Reduce and Eliminate Shaving
Bumps (Pseudo Folliculitus)
Pseudo-folliculitis, or shaving bumps,
is an inflammatory condition, widespread among individuals with
think curly hair. As the hair grows out of the skin, it curls
and re-enters the skin. The skin reacts by becoming inflamed
and irritated, creating bumps and discoloration.
We
use the first FDA cleared laser, Lyra, for the treatment of shaving
bumps. Prior to Lyra, dark complected and tanned patients could
not be treated with a laser due to the high absorbency of light
in the pigment of the skin. Lyra’s
low absorption in pigment makes it an ideal and safe treatment,
achieving outstanding results while maintaining the normal appearance
of the skin.
Depending upon the growth cycle of the
follicles when the treatment is applied, multiple treatments,
spaced a few weeks apart, may be required to obtain the overall
desired effect.
